Blazers Swept At UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Elms College women's volleyball team couldn't get the momentum in its favor on Saturday, falling 3-0 at the University of New England. UNE (3-7) won 25-11, 25-16, 25-13 to become the first team to sweep the Blazers (6-3) this season.

Danielle Redding (Las Vegas, Nev.), Hannah Adams (Deerfield, Mass.) and Sabrina Christie (Agawam, Mass.) combined for 19 kills for the Blazers. Redding had eight of those while Adams had six and Christie added five. Dakota Stewart (Victoria, Texas) finished with 23 assists and 11 digs for the Blazers and Caroline Locke added eight digs.

UNE hit .461 in the match and held the Blazers to a .163 hitting percentage. The Nor'easters held a 53-41 advantage in digs and a 6-2 edge in service aces.

Katie Flynn led all players with a dozen kills in the match for UNE while Rene Roggenbuck added 11 and Molly Camelo added 10 and 17 disg. Sydney Christiansen had 42 assists for the Nor'easters.

Elms will visit Westfield State on Sept. 19 before opening New England Collegiate Conference play at Newbury on Sept. 22. UNE will visit Nichols on Sept. 19.
