Women's Volleyball Kicks off 2014 Season with a Win in the Blazer Challenge

Chicopee, Mass. - Elms College senior middle hitter Christine Searles drilled a match high 13 kills to help pace the Blazers to a 3-1 (17-25,25-14,25-18,25-12) victory over Albertus Magnus in day one action of the 2014 Blazers Challenge women's volleyball tournament on Friday evening in Picknelly Arena.

In the opening match of the 2014 Blazer Challenge, Elms responded from a slow start to win the match. The Blazers, lead by their seniors,  captured a win over Albertus Magnus College in their home season opener. Elms advantage in kills 31-21 while registering 68 digs during the match, helped them win their final three sets against Albertus. Junior setter Shannon Bolton recorded a game high 24 assists, while fellow senior Caitlyn Larvey notched an impressive 24 digs. Christine Searles had a match high 13 kills to open their season.

With the win Elms College is 1-0 on the season. Elms College Women's Volleyball Team will return to Picknelly Arena to play Cobleskill on August 30th at 9:00 am. The final match of the 2014 Blazer Challenge will be played against Sage College at 1:00 pm.
