Framingham State Sweeps Past Women’s Volleyball, 3-0

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Elms College senior setter
Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) collected a
double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs, but Framingham State was
able to come away with a 3-0 (16-25, 18-25, 26-28) victory over the
Blazers in Tuesday evening’s non-conference women’s
volleyball match.
With the loss, Elms falls to 2-10 on the season, while Framingham
State improves to 6-8 overall.
The Rams won the first two sets handily before Elms played a
very hard-fought third frame, eventually falling 26-28 to seal the
sweep for Framingham State.
Elms sophomore outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam,
MA) delivered five kills and a team-high 22 digs in the
losing effort; while freshman outside hitter Christina
Martin (Chicopee, MA) chipped in with five kills and 13
digs.
Phillips and sophomore setter/outside hitter Jen Rego
(Fall River, MA) paced the Blazers offense with 10 assists
each.
Junior middle hitter Laura Kulig (Holyoke, MA)
added four kills, while senior middle hitter Melissa Clark
(Chicopee, MA) dug 12 balls.
Senior libero Anne Norton (Westfield, MA) also
provided a solid defensive effort with nine digs.
The Blazers return to action on Thursday, Sept. 24 when with a
non-conference tilt at Mount Holyoke. First-serve is slated for
7:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena.
