Men’s And Women’s Swimming Set School Records At NEISDA Championship

Cambridge, MA. - The Blazers had an impressive four days at the NEISDA Championship. Brittany North made the finals in the 200 backstroke placing 14th overall. Kelly Scianna had a personal best in the same event, just missing finals. Matt Novell was strong all day setting a new personal best in the 200 back. He made the finals and finished 14th.  Eddie Capoldo set a lifetime best in the 100 fly making the finals and placing 13th overall.  His time moved him into 2nd on the Elms all-time best times' list!

The 400 medley relay team of Novell, Capoldo, Pat Gay and Micheal Losardo took 40 seconds off their seed time in trials to secure a spot in the finals and took another 5 seconds off in final to place 9th!  Each swimmer posting lifetime best splits!

The 200 medley relay team of Matt Nodell, Eddie Capoldo, Pat Gay and Michael Losordo placed 11th.  Nodell set a personal best time of 28.54 on the lead off leg.

In the 400 IM Kelly Scianna set a new school record of 5:02.99 while placing 12th in the finals.  Teammate Brittany North was just behind her in13th place.

Eddie Capoldo placed 12th in the finals of the 50 fly setting a personal best and Elms 4th best time ever in a time of 24.95.

Cricket Cavar and Michael Losardo both scored points for the Blazers in the 1000 free.  Cavar placed 23rd (top 24 women score) with a lifetime best time that moved her into the number two spot on the Elms College all-time best times list. Losardo placed 15th (top 16 men score) with a lifetime best time that moved him into the number 8 spot on the all-time best times list.

The Blazers saved their best performances for the last day which included back to back school records in the women's and then the men's 200 butterfly. Brittany North lowered the school record to 2:30.10 and placed 13th in the finals.  Eddie Capoldo then set a new school record in the men's 200 fly with a time of 2:10.83 and placed 10th in the finals!

Cricket Cavar placed 20th in the 1650 with a lifetime best time of 20:24.24 which places her 3rd on the Elms all-time best list.  Michael Losardo dropped 34.03 seconds to place 13th in the 1650 with a time of 18:44.96 which places him 7th best on the all-time Elms College list.

Kelly Scianna placed 18th in the 100 IM with a time of 1:07.96 which places her 7th on the all-time best list at Elms.

The Elms men concluded the meet with an 11th place finish in the 400 Free Relay.  The team of Pat Gay, Nick Taylor, Matt Nodell and Eddie Caplodo dropped 13.76 seconds.  Pat Gay lead off the relay by smashing his personal best in his last swim for the college.
