Women’s Soccer Open’s Up NECC Play With 2-0 Win

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College women's soccer team opened up NECC play with a 2-0 win over Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday afternoon on Leary Field. With the win the Blazers improve to (6-2-1) on the season and (1-0) in the conference.

The Blazers would get off to a slow start allowing three shots and four corners to the Lions in the first 10 minutes of play. Elms would find their game and take control of the rest of the opening half. The Blazers would open the scoring in the 29th minute when Morgan Foucault (Putnam, MA) was able to dribble around a defender and send a cross into the box where Sydney Goodwin (Laerence, MA) was able to place a shot into the left side netting for her fourth marker of the season.

Elms would come out in the second half looking to extend their lead, and would do so at the 50:38 mark. Elaina Vilar (Watertown, MA) would send a perfect through ball in to a cutting Foucault who was able to slot the ball past the ENC keeper, giving the Blazers a 2-0 advantage.

That would prove to be enough as the Blazer back-line and keeper Becca Molin (West Hartford, CT) would continue its impressive streak of scoreless play, which is up now up to 470 consecutive minutes.

The Blazers are back in action on Tuesday 9/24 when they travel to Clark University at 7:00PM for a non-conference game.
