Women's Soccer Releases 2016 Schedule

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College women's soccer Head Coach Sean Milbier (fourth season) has announced the team's schedule for the 2016 fall campaign. The Blazers will hit the pitch 19 times, featuring nine New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) contests and seven battles on Leary Field.

Elms enters 2016 after the most successful season in program history, where the Blazers set the program record for wins in a season with a 16-5-2 mark, including an unbeaten 12-0-1 record at Leary Field. The Blazers made their third straight appearance in the NECC title game, and advanced to the semifinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship tournament.

The Green and Gold will open the on the road at Rhode Island College (Sept. 1) before opening their home slate against the University of Southern Maine at Leary Field on September 3, which will be the first meeting of the squads. The Blazers will return to the road for three non-conference matches, and then face Nichols College for the first time in eight years at Leary on September 14.

Elms kicks off the NECC schedule at Regis College on September 17, followed by a NECC Championship rematch against Lesley University at Leary Field on September 24. Elms will look to avenge a 2015 non-conference loss when they take on Westfield State on October 5, followed by four straight NECC matches, including a tilt with Southern Vermont (Oct. 15) at Leary Field. The Blazers will wrap the regular season schedule with three road contests, facing Mount Holyoke (Oct. 21) in non-conference action, and then Wheelock (Oct. 22) and Daniel Webster (Oct. 26) to wrap conference play.

The NECC Tournament begins with four Quarterfinal matches on October 29, followed by the Semifinals on November 2 and the Championship match on November 5.
