Lacrosse Falls To New England College In Conference Semi-Finals

HENNIKER, N.H. – The # 3 seeded Elms College Women's lacrosse team traveled to New England College on Thursday night for a NECC semi-final game with the #2 seeded pilgrims. The Blazers would come up short and see their season come to an end in the 25-10 loss.

The two teams both came out with a lot of energy and found themselves all tied up 5-5 at the 15:26 mark of the first half. The Pilgrims would go on a run, scoring seven of the next eight goals to take a 12-6 lead into the half.

The second half would start with NEC picking up where they left off, scoring five of the first four goals. The Blazers would try and battle back with consecutive goals from Alli Zadworny (Northamtop, MA) and Vanessa Vurno (Salem, CT) to cut the Pilgrim lead to 18-9, but it wouldn't be enough. NEC would take the semi-final game 25-10 and move on to the championship game.

Zadworny would lead the way for the Blazers with four goals, three groundballs and four draw controls. Haley Richard (Monson, MA) pitched in with three goals, three groundballs and four draw contols. Vurno would pick up 2 goals and get to 200 in her career in her final game as a Blazer.

Emily Huber (Jefferson, ME) had 19 saves for the Blazers in the loss.

The Pilgrims will travel to Becker College for the conference championship on Saturday at 3pm.
