Lacrosse Drops Home Game To Pilgrims In NECC Action

Chicopee, MA. — The Elms College Women's Lacrosse Team hosted the New England College Pilgrims in their final NECC game of the year. The Blazers were unable to keep pace with the Pilgrims and would drop the game 24-10. 

The Blazers came out on fire, scoring the first five goals of the game. Vanessa Vurno Salem, Ct) would put in three of the five goals. The Pilgrims would answer with nine consecutive goals of their own, six of which came from Tara Bainbridge. 

The Blazers were able to get two back when Reilly Jodoin (South Hadley, MA) netted two straight goals, and would go in to the half trailing 10-7. The two teams would each score consecutive goals to start the second half. The Pilgrims would then take control of the game, scoring seven consecutive goals, and going on to win the game 24-10.

The Blazers celebrated their seniors Vanessa Vurno and Melissa Barnes (Pittsfield, MA). Vurno would have four goals in the game.

Emily Huber (Jefferson, ME) would make 13 saves in the loss.

The Blazers wait to learn their opponent when they host the first round of the NECC playoffs on Tuesday, time TBA.
