Women’s Lacrosse Downs Sage College

Albany, NY— The Elms College women's lacrosse team traveled to Sage College on Tuesday evening for a non – conference game with the Gators.

Sage would start the scoring just twenty-six seconds into the game on a free position shot from Sophia Pierce. Elms would answer quickly and tie things up at the 28:56 mark of the first half on an unassisted goal from Reilly Jodoin (South Hadley, MA). The Blazers weren't done and would go on to score 7 of the next 10 goals including 3 from Vanessa Vurno (Salem, CT) to take an 8-4 lead. The Gators would edge closer netting 2 goals in the last two minutes of the frame cutting the Blazer lead to 8-6.

The second half would see back and forth play with the two teams exchanging goals. The Blazers came out hot and buried 4 consecutive goals including 2 from Alecia Keesee (Westfield, MA). The Gators would push back and respond with 4 straight goals of their own. The two teams would then alternate goals leaving the Blazers with a slim 14-12 advantage. Haley Richard (Monson, MA) would net her 4th marker of the game and extend the lead to 3, Elms would never look back and take the game 19-12.

In goal, Elms' sophomore keeper Emily Huber (Jefferson, ME) earned the win with 8 saves in 60 minutes of work.

Elms is back in action on Friday, hosting Purchase College in a 4:30 p.m. non-conference match.
