Elms Lacrosse Can't Overcome Slow Start In Loss At Regis (Mass.)

WESTON, Mass. – The Elms women's lacrosse team couldn't overcome a sluggish start on Thursday, falling to Regis (Mass.) 20-8.

Regis came out of the gates hot, scoring the game's first nine goals with 17:31 to play in the first half. Emily Kosak (Milton, Mass.) netted three goals during the early run which was capped by back-to-back scores from Erin Loehner (Danvers, Mass.).

Elms would rally, scoring three unanswered goals and cut the lead to 10-5 with just under 10 minutes to play until halftime. Richard and Keesee both scored a pair of goals in the run. Regis would regain a foothold of the game though, scoring five straight to take a double-digit lead into the break.

Scoring was at a premium in the second half but Regis never let the lead get below 10 goals in the win.

Alecia Keesee (Westfield, Mass.) and Haley Richard (Monson, Mass.) provided the offense for the Blazers (0-4), posting four and three goals respectively.

Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.) led all scorers, netting six goals to go along with three assists for the Pride who evened its record at 2-2. Brooke Ross (Hanover, Mass.) and Loehner each added four goals with Kosak chipping in three goals and two assists.

Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) posted five saves before being spelled by Brittany McPherson (Lynn, Mass.) at halftime who played the final 30 minutes and made three saves. Emily Huber (Jefferson, Maine) made six saves in net for Elms.

The Pride retakes the field Saturday, Mar. 24 seeking its first GNAC win hosting the University of Saint Joseph at Regis Stadium at 3:00 p.m. Elms hosts Fitchburg State the same day with a start time of 4:00 p.m.
