Lacrosse Drops 2018 Opener At Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. – Vanessa Vurno scored tallied three goals and an assist for the Blazers but the Elms Colelge lacrosse team couldn't bounce back from a 14-0 Gordon run to close the first half, falling 20-5 in the season-opener on Saturday.

The Blazers (0-1) scored back-to-back goals early in the first half to tie the contest at 3-3, but Gordon took control from there, scoring 14 unanswered goals to take a 20-3 lead into halftime.

Elms scored twice early in the second half to cut the deficit to 17-5, but Gordon added three more unanswered scores for the final 20-5 margin.

Emily Huber picked up 11 saves in goal for the Blazers.

Elms returns to the pitch on March 12 to host Maine-Farmington in the home-opener.
