Women's Lacrosse Pulls Past Becker, 21-11

LEICESTER, MA, April 19, 2008 - Elms College senior midfielder Caitlin Childs (Hingham, MA) netted a season-high seven goals and the Blazers broke away from two-goal lead late in the second half to post a 21-11 win over Becker College in Saturday's New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) game at Leicester.

With the victory, Elms College snapped a six-game losing streak and improved to 3-8 overall, 2-5 NEWLA. Becker, which is in its first intercollegiate season, fell to 1-10, 1-6 NEWLA.

The Blazers held a slim 12-10 lead before erupting for nine of the game's final 10 goals over the final 14:15 to pull away.

Senior center Lauren O'Donnell (Hampden, MA) started the run with three goals in a span of 3:25.

From there, senior defender Raemarie Josefiak (Springfield, MA) scored twice, while senior attack Carrie Allard (Springfield, MA), sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Graham (Paxton, MA) and Childs each added a tally over the final 9:37 to seal the victory.

Junior goalkeeper Alicia Bobbie (Higganum, CT) finished with 13 saves en route to her third win of the season.

O'Donnell finished with four goals and two assists, Josefiak registered three goals and two assists, Allard also had three goals, and freshman attack Jennifer Lough (Feeding Hills, MA) and Graham added two goals apiece.

Childs also finished with three assists in the winning effort.

Elms College returns to non-conference play on Monday, April 21 when it hosts St. Joseph (CT) on Senior Night at Leary Field. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
