Women’s Basketball Drops Road Game at NEC

Henniker, N.H. – The Elms College women's basketball team fell on the road 74-47 at New England College on Saturday afternoon. With the loss the Blazers drop to (8-15) on the year and (4-8) in league action.

The Pilgrims came out strong as they jumped out to a 7-2 lead three minutes in. The Blazers then came roaring back as they claimed the lead at 11-10 with four minutes remaining in the quarter. From there both teams battled as New England College held a narrow 16-15 lead at the close of the first.

In the second quarter, the Pilgrims started to pull away. New England College scored eight of the first 10 points in the quarter and held a 32-19 lead with three minutes remaining in the half. The Pilgrims closed out the half with a 34-24 lead. Lashaunte White (Miami, FL) led Elms with seven points.

The Pilgrims kept rolling in the third as they outscored the Blazers 8-2 over the first four minutes for a 42-26 lead. Elms worked hard to get back into the game, but New England College continued to build on its lead, and held a 57-39 advantage heading into the final frame of play. The Pilgrims never let up, and took the 74-47 win.

Regina LeBlanc (Enfield, CT) led the Blazers with 15 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Elms is back in action on Tuesday 2/18 when the host Bay Path University in NECC play.
