Chicopee, MA – The Elms College women's basketball team opened up New England Collegiate Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Picknelly Arena with a win, defeating the visiting Lesley Linx 90-24. With the win the Blazers improve to (1-4) overall and (1-0) in NECC play.
Elms got off to a fast start, building a 12-2 advantage just five minutes into the game. The Blazers would continue to dominate and pushed the lead to 47-11 by halftime.
Elms would control the game throughout the second half, and outscore the Linx 43-13 in the frame, eventually taking the conference game 90-24.
The Blazers would have 17 different players score on the day. Tynisha Thomas (New Haven, CT) would register a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Samantha Lynes (Berlin, CT) pitched in with 10 points, and Jalin Water (Waterbury, CT) dished out four assists.
Elms shot 44.7% from the field and 33.3 % from behind the arc, and outrebounded Lesley 52-29. The Linx finished the game at 20.4% from the field and 0% from the three point line.
The Blazers are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Johnson and Wales University at 7PM at Pickinelly Arena in non-conference play.
