Women's Basketball Falls Short Against ENC, 56-53

CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The Elms College women's basketball team came up just short against Eastern Nazarene College on Tuesday night, falling 56-53.

The Blazers (10-9, 6-6 New England Collegiate Conference) had the final possession needing a 3-pointer to tie the game, but instead were forced into a long two that was off the mark.

Niah Pantry led Elms with 19 points, going 8-of-11 from the field, to go along with seven rebounds. Samantha Lynes added nine points off the bench for Elms, and Regina LeBlanc finished with eight points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Kyra Fleharty led the Lions (13-5, 8-3 NECC) scorers with 16 points. Courtney Barba added nine points for ENC and Tia Torio finished with eight points and eight boards.

The Blazers were hampered by 26 turnovers, leading to 17 ENC points. Elms won the rebounding battle, 42-36, and out-shot the Lions, but ENC went 13-of-18 from the free throw line while the Blazers hit just 6-of-18.

Elms returns to action at Becker on Saturday while ENC faces New England College.
