Blazers Softball Splits Doubleheader

Fort Myers, FL – The Elms College Softball team split their non-conference doubleheader today winning against the University of Pittsburgh Bradford 5-4 and falling to Albion College 13-0

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Game #1

Elms College Blazers managed through a push by Pitt-Bradford in the fourth inning where Elms College Blazers coughed up four runs, but Elms College Blazers still won 5-4 on Tuesday.  The Blazer's big bats were led by  Alli Alleano (Vernon, CT), Courtney Schwark (Kinston, NY), Sofie Oliveira (Windsor Locks, Conn.), Brandi Johnson (Bennington, VT), who each had RBIs in the inning.
 
Jayden Dow (Springfield, MA) pitched Elms College Blazers to victory. The ace lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and four runs.
 
Elms College Blazers racked up five hits in the game.  Courtney Schwark and Nicole DeFeo (Watertown, CT) each racked up multiple hits for Elms College Blazers.  DeFeo and Schwark each managed two hits to lead Elms College Blazers.
 

Game #2

Elms College Blazers fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 13-0 loss to Albion College on Tuesday. The Elms College Blazers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Albion College, giving up 13 runs.
 
 
A single by Josie Cammarata (Wolcutt, CT) in the second inning was a positive for the Blazers.
 
Mackenzie Alvarado (Plainville, CT) was on the rubber for Elms College Blazers. The pitcher lasted two innings, allowing six hits and nine runs while striking out one.
 
Cammarata went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Elms College Blazers in hits.
 


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Alleano, Schwark, Oliveira, Johnson each had RBIs in the first game.

- Schwark and DeFeo each racked up multiple hits in the first game.

- Cammarata went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead the Blazers in hits in the second game.

- The Blazers will compete in another non-conference doubleheader against New Jersey City University at 9:00 AM and then Immaculata University at 11:00 AM this Wednesday 3/9.
