Softball Sweeps Dean College In Conference Play

Franklin, MA – The Elms College Softball team was on the road Thursday evening for a conferenece doubleheader at Dean College. The Blazers would get the sweep, putting up 34 and runs and only allowing three on the day.

 

GAME 1: Elms College 20, Dean College 1 (5 innings)

The Blazers erupted for 20 runs in game one and took the opener of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) softball twin bill with the Bulldogs.

Elms scored four in the 1st, five in the 2nd and six in the 3rd to seize control of the contest.

Leadoff hitter Kayla Sylvia (Southwick, MA) was a huge factor in the Blazers victory, going 4-for-4 with four runs scored, five RBI and a pair of homeruns.

Meanwhile, Madison Messier (Warren, MA) also had four hits and Emily Dorosh (Litchfield, MA) drove in four runs and Jeszy McGuire (Brimfield, MA) added three RBI of her own.

The big blow in the first was a two-run double by Dorosh, while Sylvia blasted a two-run shot in the second and then followed that up with another two-run round tripper in the third.

Lisa Lusardi pitched 4.1 strong innings, only giving up one run in the win.

 

GAME 2: Elms College 14, Dean College 3 (5 innings)

The Blazers bats would stay hot in game two, Elms scored early and often on their way to a 14-3 win to sweep the NECC doubleheader from the Bulldogs and keep a hold on second place in the league standings.

The Blazers scored five runs in the first to stake themselves to an early lead highlighted by an RBI double from Messier.

Elms' offense continued to click, pushing four runs across in the top of the second to take a 9-0 edge.

In front 9-3, the Blazers added five insurance runs in the fifth, two of which came on a double by Catherine Wrang (Middeltown, CT).

Raeanna Tumel would pick up the win for the Blazers.

Elms will host Eastern Nazarene College in an NECC doubleheader at 12pm and 2pm.
