Blazers Drop Game One And Tie Game Two With Pioneers

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College Softball team hosted a non-conference doubleheader with Smith College on Tuesday evening.

 

Game 1 – Smith 9, Elms 2

The Blazers jumped out a 1-0 lead on an Emily Dorosh (Litchfield, CT) single that scored Kayla Doherty (Plaistow, NH) in the bottom of the second inning. The Pioneers would tie things up in the top of the 5th and take a commanding lead with a five spot in the 6th and would add three more in the 7th to collect the 9-2 win.

Doherty led the way offensively for the Blazers with two hits, Lisa Lusardi (Enfield, CT) would take the loss.

 

Game 2 – Elms 3, Smith 3 (6 innings)

The Blazers struck first in game 2 when Maddison Messier (Warren, MA) singled in Tyla Risucci (Watertown, CT). Elms would load the bases in the bottom of the 4th but were unable to push anyone across the plate.

The Pioneers would score their first runs of the game in the top of the 5th platting 3 runs to jump out in front of the Blazers.

Elms came right back in the bottom of the frame scoring two runs to tie things up at 3-3 on a passed ball and a fielders choice.

The game would end in a 3-3 tie due to darkness.

Elms travels to Dean College for a conference doubleheader at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
