Softball Takes Both Games Of Doubleheader With Bay Path

Longmeadow, MA – The Elms College Softball team won both games of their doubleheader on Saturday at Bay Path University.

Game 1 – Elms 5, Bay Path 4

Game one saw back and forth action with the two teams exchanging runs throughout. The Blazers jumped out to a three run lead putting up runs in in the first two innings. Bay path would respond with a three spot in the top of the 4th inning only to see Elms come right back with a run in the bottom of the frame to jump back out front 4-3.

The Wildcats would not go down easily and pushed a run across the plate in the top of the 5th to tie things up at 4-4. The score would stay that way until the bottom of the seventh. The Blazers would not be denied and would take the game in walk off fashion on a single from Kayla Doherty (Plaistow, N.H.) that scored Lisa Lusarid (Enfield, CT).

Katelyn Sylvia (Southwick, MA), Madison Messier (Warren, MA), Lisa Lusardi (Enfield, CT) and Sofie Olvieria (Windsor Locks, CT) all had two hits in the game.

Lusardi would get the complete game win.

Game 2 Elms 6, Bay Path 3

The Blazers led game two from start to finish jumping out front early with two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and three more in the bottom of the 3rd. Elms would plate one more run the 5th and that would be enough to secure the 6-3 win.

Madison Messier (Warren, MA) and Lisa Lusardi (Enfield, MA) would each have three hits, Lusardi would pick up 4 RBI's on the day.

Raeanna Tumel (Satfford, CT) would get the win for the Blazers, Lusardi would pick up a save.

The Blazers travel to Lesley University on Sunday for a conference doubleheader at 12 P.M. and 2 P.M.
