Bennington, VT – The Elms College Softball team picked up two conference wins on Saturday at Southern Vermont College. The Blazers pushed 22 runs across the plate in the doubleheader and only allowed 1 in the dominant victories.
GAME 1: Elms 10 – Southern Vermont 0 (5 inn.)
The Blazers put up seven runs in the top of the third to go ahead 9-0 in the opening game, and were able to keep Southern Vermont off of the board through five innings to pick up the win.
The Blazers were led by two hit performances by Katelyn Sylvia (Southwick, MA), Jeszy McGuire (Brimfield, MA) and Tyla Risucci (Watertown, CT).
Julia Whipple would take the loss for the Mountaineers.
Raeanna Tumel (Stafford, CT) would get the win for the Blazers
GAME 2: Elms 12 – Southern Vermont 1
The Mountaineers took an early lead in game two with a lone run in the first. The Blazers would got it right back in the second frame. The Blazers would lead 5-1 going into the seventh, and that's when they notched seven runs to open it up.
Madison Messier (Warren. MA) and Lisa Lusardi (Enfield, CT) combined for 4 hits and 6 RBI's, Cat Wrang (Middeltown, CT) pitched in with 3 hits.
Lusardi would pitch a complete game scattering 4 hits and striking out 10
