Softball Splits Twin Bill With St. Joseph CT

 

West Hartford, CT – The Elms College Softball team split a doubleheader in non-conference action at St. Josephs CT on Thursday.

 

Game One:  St. Joes 4, Elms 2

The Bluejays jumped out to a 2 run lead in the bottom of the first inning and would add a third run in the bottom of the third inning.

The Blazers would get on the board in the top of the fifth when Katelyn Sylvia (Southwick, MA) singled to left scoring Tea Sullivan (Dracut, MA) putting Elms to within two runs.

St. Joes would add an insurance run in the sixth.

The Blazers would try and mount a comeback in the top of the seventh when Sylvia doubled in Tyla Risucci (Watertown, CT) to put Elms back to within 2, that's as close as the Blazers would get dropping the opening game 4-2.

Amaria Sharon would get the win and Natalie Amato picked up a save for the Bluejays.

Lisa Lusardi (Enfield, CT) would take the loss for the Blazers.

 

Game Two:  Elms 4, St. Joes 2

The Blazers waited until the seventh inning to put up a crooked number and take the lead. Tea Sullivan (Dracut, MA) came up big with a single to center field scoring Kayla Doherty (Plaistow, NH) tying up the game at 2-2. Elms wasn't done, Jeszy McGuire (Brimfield, MA) would step up and smash a triple platting Sullivan and Raeanna Tumel (Stafford, CT) giving the Blazers a 4-2 lead and eventually the win.

Alessandra Milardo would take the loss for the Bluejays.

Tumel picks up her first win of the season for the Blazers.

Elms is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Southern Vermont College for an NECC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
