Guillerault Takes 9th, Elmer 13th To Pace Blazer XC

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Elms College men's and women's cross country teams opened the season at the Southern Vermont Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by a ninth-place individual finish from Blazer junior Emily Guillerault on the women's side and a sixth-place team finish for the Blazer men.

Guillerault (East Granby, Conn.) finished the 5k course in 24:07 to lead the Elms women. Julia Trezza (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished 18th (25:51), Tyana Media (Springfield, Mass.) finished 22nd (26:29), and Keara Moulton (Ashburnham, Mass.) finished 26th (27:05) in the 55-person race.

Freshman Ricky Elmer (Chicopee, Mass.) led the Blazer men with a 13th place finish on the 5k course. He finished in 19:51 and was followed by teammates Donald Cianciolo (Waterbury, Conn) who finished 32nd in 21:59 and Robert Culhane (Hampden, Mass.) who finished 34th in 22:02.

Derek Waid (Winchendon, Mass.) and Rich Hernanadez (North Branford, Conn.) finished 42nd and 43rd for the Blazers while Brendan Curley (Chicopee, Mass.) finished 49th and Adrian Wong (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) finished 55th.

Elms will return to competition on Sept. 15 at the Mitchell College Invitational in New London, Conn.
