Men's Cross Country 14th At WNEC Invitational

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES 14TH AT WNEC INVITATIONAL

SPRINGFIELD, MA, Oct. 18, 2008 - Elms College sophomore Nick Whitman (Florence, MA) raced to a personal-record 8,000-meter time to help lead the men's cross country team to a 14th place finish in Saturday's WNEC Invitational.

Whitman finished 78th out of 129 runners with a time of 33:07 for the Blazers, who tallied 399 points for their 14th place showing in the 16-team field.

AIC cruised to the team title with 71 points. Bard (110), WNEC (112), SUNY Tech (120), Norwich (146), Castleton (156), New England College (170), Clark (178), Endicott (183) and John Jay (227) rounded out the top 10.

Freshman Ben Kronlund (Longmeadow, MA) (36:02), Mike Desmond (Nashua, NH) (36:10) and Adam Tonnesen (Norwich, CT) (37:39) all finished to help bolster the Blazers team effort.

Elms College returns to action next Sunday, October 26 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship at Franklin Park. Race time is 2:30 p.m.
