Blazers Battle Rivier in Home Loss
CHICOPEE, MA – The Elms College men's volleyball team fell to Rivier tonight, 0-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first set was close as the teams traded points and a kill from Carlos Mercado put the Blazers up one at 10-9. A Raider run had the Blazers trailing before a kill from Pedro De Jesus stopped their momentum at 13-17. The teams traded the next 9 kills before the Blazers fell 18-25 on a pair of hitting errors.
The second set saw the Blazers in an early hole at 1-8. A string of kills from Mercado and Moose Perry brought the Blazers within 4 at 7-11. Despite some late kills in the set, the early deficit was too much to overcome as the Blazers fell 15-25 in the set.
The third set was more back-and-forth action as the teams remained tied at 8-8. A pair of kills from Mercado saw the Blazers down 15-17. A trio of late Blazers kills put them within 1 at 22-23 before Elms fell 22-25. Elms dropped the match 0-3.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Mercado led the Blazers with 15 kills with De Jesus and Martinez adding 6 each.
Collin Liedke led all players with 8 digs with Delgado Rolon, De Jesus and Mercado each adding 3.
Antonio Delgado Rolon led the Blazers to a .232 hitting clip with 27 assists.
