Men’s Volleyball Drops Road Match at Lasell

Newton, MA – The Elms College men's volleyball team dropped a road match (3-1) on Wednesday night at Lasell University with set scores of (25-19, 19-25, 28-30, and 21-25).

The Blazers got off to fast start going (16-11) after a Diego Hernandez (San Juan P.R.) kill off an assist from Jeremy Torres (Juncos, P.R.). Elms continues to build on its lead and took the opening set (25-19).

The second set belonged to the home side. The Lasers lead from start to finish, and tied up the match at one set apiece. The third set was the most competitive with multiple ties and lead changes. Elms had three opportunities to close out the set, but were unable to execute.  Lasell would take advantage and win the go ahead set (30-28).

With the fourth set tied (9-9) the Lasers went ahead on a kill, and never looked back. The home team would take the set (25-21) and the match (3-1).

Torres and Hernandez both registered a double –double in the match, Carlos Mercado (Barranquitas, P.R.) picked up 53 assists in the match.

The Blazers are back in action on Saturday 2/15 when they travel to Vassar College for a tri-match with Stevens. Elms will face Vassar at 3PM and Stevens at 5PM.
