Men’s Volleyball Tabbed Second In NECC Preseason Poll

Mansfield, MA – The Elms College men's volleyball team nabbed the second spot in the New Collegiate Conference preseason poll. The Blazers tallied 32 points and the two remaining first place votes.  The Blazers are coming off a season in which they broke a program record with 28 wins, and took home a share of the regular season conference title.

Led by the 2019 NECC Coach of the Year, Sheila Gisbrecht, Elms will also enter the season ranked nationally, earning the No. 12 slot in the NVA/AVCA preseason poll. Elms returns the 2019 NECC Player of the Year, Jeremy Torres (Juncos, P.R.) who led the league with 3.62 kills per set and total kills with 362. Torres was awarded AVCA All-American second team honors, and was also recently named an Off the Block Division III Preseason All-American.

The Blazers open their 2020 season on the road at The Clash at Kean tournament at Kean College. Elms will face two top 10 teams in the country. First up is #3 Stevens on Friday 1/17 at 7:30PM, followed by Penn St.-Altoona on Saturday 1/18 at 1PM, and #10 Arcadia at 5PM.
