Torres Selected Preseason All-American
Mansfield, MA – Elms junior outside hitter Jeremy Torres (Juncos, P.R.) has been named to the 2020 Off the Block Division III Preseason All-America Team, as announced by the organization.
Torres is the reigning New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Year. In his sophomore campaign, he helped lead the Blazers to a 27-4 overall record while going 13-1 in NECC play and also reaching a program high at No. 3 in the AVCA National Poll. The outside hitter led the league in total kills (362) and kills per set (3.62), while also owning a .299 hitting percentage. Torres' 3.62 kills per set put him at 15th nationally in NCAA Division III.
The Off the Block annual preseason honor recognizes NCAA Division III men's volleyball student-athletes who are projected to be the best in the nation during the upcoming season.
A 16-member voting committee for this preseason honor was comprised of Division III men's volleyball head coaches from around the nation. The top 15 vote-getters from the committee's ballots earned a spot on the Preseason All-American Team, while six others were tabbed to the Honorable Mention Team.
This is the fifth season that Off the Block has presented its Division III Preseason All-America and Honorable Mention Teams. Off the Block is the only volleyball organization to present men's volleyball Preseason All-American Teams.
