#5 Men’s Volleyball Has Six Selected To NECC All-Conference Team

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College Men's Volleyball team dominated the New England Collegiate Conference post season awards. The Blazers saw six members of the program receive postseason honors.

Elms sophomore Jeremy Torres (Juncos, P.R.) was voted the 2019 NECC Player of the Year in back to back seasons, while his coach, Sheila Gisbrecht was named Coach of the Year also in back to back seasons.

Player of the Year Jeremy Torres is joined on the first team by his teammate Jovanny Torres (Juncos, P.R.).

The second team features three Blazers, John Dunphy (Farmington, Conn.) and Carlos Mercado (Barranquitas, P.R.) who combined for 1,071 assists during the year. Jake Johnson (Warwick, R.I) picked up 145 kills which landed the second team.

This has been a historic season for the Blazers who are currently ranked #3 in the East Region and #5 nationally by the AVCA. The Blazers also smashed their single season win total which was previously 20 by going 27-4.

Elms is back in action on Thursday when they host Eastern Nazarene College in the NECC Semi-Final match at 7 p.m. for the right to play in the NECC championship.
