Blazers Sweep Bearcats

New York, NY – The Elms College men's volleyball team picked up its fifth consecutive win on Thursday night, defeating Baruch College 3-0 (25-17, 25-19 and 25-21) in New York, NY. With the win, the Blazers tied the program record for wins in a season.

The first set saw back and forth action. With the score 14-13, John Dunphy (Farmington, CT) assisted a kill by Luis Martinez (Bayamon, P.R.) and gave the Blazers some separation. Elms would take the opening set on a kill from Jovanny Torres (Juncos, P.R.).

The second set started the same way as the first with both teams exchanging points. Elms was able to pull away with five consecutive points behind a kill from Jeremy Torres (Juncos, P.R.) to push the lead to 23-17. The Blazers would take to middle set, 25-19.

In the third and final set, the Blazers played from behind. Trailing 17-15, EC took over scoring five straight points to take a 20-17 advantage.  Elms would secure the set and take the match behind two more kills from Jeremy and Jovanny Torres.

The Blazers are back in NECC play on Saturday the 23rd when they host Newbury College at 12 pm.
