Blazers Dominate Mountaineers

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College men's volleyball team started New England Collegiate Conference action Friday night at Picknelly Arena with a 3-0 over Southern Vermont College.

The Blazers swept SVC with set scores of 25-9, 25-8, and 25-5.

Four-straight aces early in the first put EC on the path to a decisive win; the Blazers would then go on a 9-1 run to help close it out. Elms opened up the second with an 11-2 lead before eight unanswered points later in the frame put it out of SVC's reach. The Blazers rallied for 13-straight in the onset of the third game, and they finished the night with another 11 in-a-row.

David Hernandez had a big night for Elms with 8 digs, 4 kills, 2 service aces and 2 assists. John Dunphy was the team leader in assists with 17. Antonio Delgado pitched in with 7 kills and 6 digs.

SVC sophomore Zach Rogers had four kills for the visitors while senior Isaiah Baclels notched six assists, three digs, and two kills. Freshman libero Fernando Perez  tallied four digs for the Mountaineers.
