Blazers Roll Past Lesley For 10th Win

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College men's volleyball team picked up its 10th win of the young season on Friday night with a 25-8, 25-6, 25-10 New England Collegiate Conference victory over Lesley in Picknelly Arena.

The Blazers improve to 10-3 on the season and 4-0 in the NECC with the win while Lesley falls to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

Martin Acevedo (Carolina, P.R.) led elms with 10 kills and an .818 hitting percentage. Gabriel Levy (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) added nine kills without an error for the Blazers and finished with seven digs. David Hernandez (Manati, P.R.) tallied seven kills and a team-best eight digs. Kahlil Peters (Hartford, Conn.) racked up 22 assists and John Dunphy (Farmington, Conn.) add 10 more helpers for Elms.

The Blazers hit .648 for the match, finishing with 39 kills and just four errors on 54 attempts. Elms also picked up 14 aces and four blocks in the contest. Lesley hit -.037 and had two aces.

John Gersbeck (Westerly, R.I.) led the Lynx with five kills while Steven Newman (Natick, Mass.) had a team-high four digs.

The Blazers will visit Vassar on Feb. 27 in non-conference action before returning to league play at Endicott on March 3. Elms will return home host Newbury on March 13.
