Elms Men's Volleyball Cruises To Sweep At Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Elms College men's volleyball team picked up a quick 25-10, 25-13, 25-10 sweep at Dean College on Tuesday night in New England Collegiate Conference action.

The Blazers improve to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in the NECC with the win, while Dean drops to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

The Blazers were seemingly unstoppable in the first set, hitting .750 with nine kills on 12 attempts and no errors for the 25-10 win. Elms held Dean to a .000 hitting percentage as the Bulldogs had six errors and six kills in the set. Elms didn't slow down too much from there. For the match, Elms hit .393 while Dean finished with a -.101 hitting percentage.

Jake Johnson (Warwick, R.I.) had five kills and a .833 hitting percentage for Elms while Martin Acevedo (Carolina, P.R.) tallied a match-high seven hills on a .750 clip. Jeremy Torres (Juncos, P.R.) added six kills for Elms, while John Dunphy (Farmington, Conn.) dished out 12 assists.

Elms held a 32-20 advantage in digs in the contest and finished with five total blocks.

The Blazers return home to host Lesley on Feb. 24 as NECC play continues. First serve on Saturday is set for 1:00 p.m.
