Men's Volleyball Stifles SVC On The Road

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Elms College men's volleyball team made quick work of Southern Vermont on Thursday night, picking up a 25-4, 25-5, 25-11 sweep of the Mountaineers.

Elms improves to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference win the win, while SVC drops to 0-6 on the season, and 0-1 in the NECC.

Jeremy Torres (Juncos, P.R.) and Gabriel Reis Levy (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) led the Blazers with eight kills apiece. Torres did so on 11 attempts and just one error to hit .636 for the match, while Reis Levy hit .429 with two errors on 14 swings. Torres added a team-high nine digs in the contest.

John Dunphy (Farmington, Conn.) tallied 20 assists for the Blazers and was one of three Elms players to record three aces, joining Nik Bates (Hampden, Mass.) and Michael DiPasquale (Meriden, Conn.).

Te Hayward (Baltimore, Md.) had a team-high six kills for SVC and El Olivares (Miami, Fla.) added two and a team-best five digs. Elms hit .500 in the match while holding the Mountaineers to -.111.

Elms will visit Rivier on Feb. 15 and Dean on Feb. 20 before returning home to take on Lesley University on Feb. 24.
