Blazers Take Second In GNAC/NECC Interconference Track & Field Championships

WESTON, Mass.
– The Elms College track & field teams had a successful day at the GNAC & NECC Interconference Championships on Sunday as the Blazer men finished second of eight teams at the meet overall. The Elms women, meanwhile, finished fifth out of eight teams overall.

Keara Moulton finished 11th overall in the 400m (1:05.82). Sarah Tatgenhorst took second overall in the women's 800m at 2:29.38. The Blazers finished third in the 4x800m relay with a time of 11:16.21 to pick up six points.

The Blazer women earned second- and third-place finishes in the triple jump as Keyonna Douglas finished with a leap of 8.73m and Sam Wegiel was just behind at 8.68m.

On the men's side, Robert Jean Charles won the 200m (23.12) and took second in the 100m (11.41) in the overall meet to pick up a combined 18 points for the Blazers. Isaiah McKinley-Jones finished this in the 400m (51.78) to add six more points for Elms.

Donald Cianciolo picked up a second-place finish in the 400m hurdles (1:02.29) and Elms won both the 4x100 (44.22) and 4x400 (3:32.26) relays.

The Elms men also had strong jumping performances. Greg Metelus (6.27m) and Keeshaun King (6.12m) finished first and second in the long jump while Jonathan Lester (12.39) and Connor Chung (12.00m) went 1-2 in the triple jump. Metelus also took sixth in the triple jump (11.37m) as the Blazers racked up a combined 37 points in the two events.

The Blazers will return to action at the New England DIII Championships May 4-5 in Cambridge, Mass.
