Caver and Carrier pace swimming in loss to Western New England

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Cricket Cavar and Aislinn Carrier paced the Elms College women's swim team in a 146-98 loss to Western New England in the Partyka Natatorium on Wednesday afternoon.

Cavar won the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 10:44.14 and picked up second-place finishes in the 50-meter freestyle (32.58) and 400-meter freestyle (5:13.62) to net 17 points for the Blazers.

Meanwhile, Carrier took medalist honors in the 50-meter freestyle (31.22) and finished second in the 200-meter freestyle (2:28.55) and the 200-meter breast stroke (3:30.59) to pick up 17 more points for Elms.

Brittany North added eight points for the Blazers with runner-up finishes in the 100-meter butterfly (1:21.06) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:18.70).

The Elms men got swam several exhibition races during the meet. Eddie Capoldo was the top finisher in the 50-meter backstroke (31.09), 50-meter breaststroke (35.32), and 50-meter butterfly (29.20).

The Blazers compete again this weekend, visiting Norwich on Jan. 13 at 1:00 p.m.
