Blazers Cruise Past Hawks In NECC Match Up

Leicester, MA- The Elms College mens' soccer team are now on a two-game win streak as they beat Becker College 2-0 on Saturday at Alumni Field. With this win, the Blazers are now 4-10-3 on the season and 3-3 in conference.

With the rain pouring down on a cold Sunday afternoon, the Blazers came out hot as they took the lead 5 minutes into the game. Freshman forward Alex Egan (Watertown, MA) took a pass from Babba Jaden (Clarkston, GA) and used the wet surface to place the ball into the bottom right corner giving Elms an early lead. Becker nearly tied it up with a free-kick 30 yards out from Seidon Nemeth (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands), however, Elms keeper Julian Brosi (West Newbury, MA) was there to keep the Blazers' lead. Elms would go on to hold out their lead as the first half ended 1-0.

The slippery surface continued to be a challenge for both teams as the rain kept on pounding down. It was in full effect as the Blazers cushioned their lead in the 56th minute. A free kick floated in by Yanni Koci (Bristol, CT) seemed to be an easy catch for the Becker keeper, however, the ball slipped straight through his hands giving Babba Jaden an easy tap in for his 11th goal of the season from less than a yard out. Becker continued to dominate possession but created no threatening chances. The Hawks failed to come back as the Blazers went onto win 2-0, with their solid back line getting their third clean sheet of the season.

Egan and Jaden combined for 2 goals and 1 assist, making that 5 goals and 3 assists created from the two strikers in two games. Brosi and his back line earned their 3rd clean sheet of the season. Elms' next game is Wednesday, 10/30, at 7pm at Leary Field as they look to end their regular season campaign with a third consecutive win against Westfield State. I Hope to see all of you Blazer fans out their supporting the team in what could be their last home game!!!

The Blazers will have to wait and see where they will fall in the final conference standings.

Elms has their season finale on Wednesday 10/30 at 7PM when they host Westfiled State University on Leary Field.
