Jaden’s Hat Trick Leads Blazers In Home Opener Win

Chicopee, MA - The Elms College Men's Soccer team won their 2019 home opener in dominant fashion on Tuesday night. The Blazers defeated the visiting Lasell University Lasers 5-0 behind a hat trick from senior Babba Jaden (Clarkston, GA).

Jaden wasted little time netting his first goal of the contest heading home a corner from Pedro Duarte (Chicopee, MA) at the 3:44 mark of the opening frame. The Blazers would add to their lead only three minutes later. Alex Egan (Watertown, MA) took a pass from Justin Szwajkowski (Westhampton, MA) and fired a shot from 22 yards out into the lower left corner of the net beating the Lasers keeper.

Jaden would pick up his second goal of the match off of a well-executed set paly from a dead ball free kick. Duarte delivered the ball to the far post where Michael Lemke (Bristol, CT) was able to head it back across where Jaden finished from close range.

Jaden would grab his third goal and complete the hat trick in the 51st minute. Whaid Khaleqdad (Snellville, GA ) gathered a loose ball in the midfield, and placed a perfect through ball to Jaden which sent the senior forward one on one with the lasers keeper. Jaden was then able to slide a shot into the left side netting and give the Blazers a 4-0 lead.

Elms was not done and would add a final goal when Szwajkowski converted a penalty kick in the 69th minute for his first collegiate goal.

Collin Liedke (Newington, CT) registered five saves in his first career win for Elms.

The Blazers are back in action on Friday 9/6 at 6:30PM when they take on Western Connecticut State University at the MCLA tournament.
