Blazers Drop Non-Conference Finale At WestConn

DANBURY, Conn. -- The Elms College men's soccer team couldn't keep up with Western Connecticut State on Tuesday night, falling 4-0 in the Blazers' non-conference finale.

WestConn (13-3-3) took the lead almost immediately as Chauncey Allers scored the game's first goal just 96 seconds after the opening whistle. The Colonials doubled their lead late in the first half as Max Cano scored in the 39th minute to make it 2-0.

Western Connecticut expanded the lead to 3-0 early in the second half when Matthew Restrepo scored five minutes into the half, and Naseem Thompson added an 80th minute goal for the 4-0 victory.

The Colonials held a 24-5 lead in total shots and 11-1 advantage in shots on goal in the game. Blazer (5-11-1) goalkeeper AJ Oliveira made seven saves in the loss.

The Blazers wrap up the regular season in the New England Collegiate Conference finale at Dean College on Oct. 27 at noon. Western Connecticut wraps up the regular season at Plymouth State on Oct. 27.
