Men's Soccer Falls To Gators

CHICOPEE, Mass. -With both teams in search of their first win of the 2018 season, the Elms College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Sage on Leary Field on Wednesday night.

The Gators (1-5-1) were able to apply the pressure on the Elms (0-6-0) net throughout the entire game, finishing with 27 shots. On the other end of the field, Elms was not able to get into any sort of rhythm offensively. The Blazers only got off a total of six shots.

Elms keeper AJ Oliveira (Beacon Falls, Conn.) played 80 minutes of the game and had nine saves. Sage keeper Lucas Bourdeau (Castleton-On-Hudson, NY) was able to keep Elms off the board throughout, playing the full 90 minutes with three saves

After a scoreless first half, the offensive attack for Sage was fueled by goals from Jeaneste Pierre (Newburgh, NY) and Joergen Skagen (Oslo, Norway). Pierre put the Gators ahead 1-0 in the 54th minute and Skagen added the insurance goal in the 86th. Sage also drew six corner kicks, one of which lead to a goal off the head of Skagan.

Elms College will host New England College on Saturday, September 22nd at 4:30. Sage will next host Houghton on September 22nd.
