Blazers Finish 21st At Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- The Elms College men's golf team climbed one spot on the leaderboard on the final day of the Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury after a final-round team score of 323 on Sunday. The Blazers finished 21st in the 22-team field after improving by nine strokes over Saturday's opening round 332.

Frankie Murray followed his opening-round 80 with a 79 on Sunday to lead Elms and tie for 75th individually at 159.  William Marchand matched Murray's 79 on Sunday and shot 163 overall to tie for 90th. Chris Soderberg posted his second-straight 82 shot shoot 164 for the tournament and finish 92nd. Matt King shot his second consecutive 86 and John Keegan shot 83 and the two finished tied for 101st in the tournament. All five Elms players matched or beat their first-round score on Sunday.

Williams College won the tournament after posting a team score of 291 on Sunday and shooting 584 for the tournament. Trinity (CT) finished second at 588 and first-round leader New York University shot 299 on Sunday to finish third at 590 overall. Sam Goldenring of Williams College to individual honors after rounds of 69 and 70.

Elms will return to action next weekend at the Castleton University Golf Tournament, a two-day event Sept. 22 and 23.
