Franklin, MA - The Elms College men's basketball team was eliminated from the New England Collegiate Conference tournament quarterfinal on Tuesday night at Dean College. The #5 Blazers were defeated 89-77 by the #4 Bulldogs. Elms finishes the season with an overall record of (9-17) and (5-7) in NECC action.
The Bulldogs were able to jump out front and keep a lead throughout the game by shooting 52 percent from the field and led by as many as 24 points late in the second half.
Ahead 47-34 early in the second half, Dean quickly saw its lead balloon to 56-36 following a traditional three-point play and back-to-back three-pointers.
The Blazers to cut the deficit to 17 with a little more than five minutes remaining, but the Bulldogs responded with consecutive hoops to push the lead to 83-62 with less than four minutes to play. The home would go on and take the tournament game 89-77.
Ahmad Conner (Springfield, MA) led the Blazers with 17 points on 7-for-8 shooting. Kewan Smoot registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. David Lopez Jr. pitched in with 13 points in the game.
