Strong Second Half Lifts Blazers Over Hawks

Leicester, MA – The Elms College men's basketball team picked up a big 76-61 conference road win at Becker College on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Blazers improve to (8-15) overall and (4-6) in league play.

The game was tied 33-33 at halftime and was tied at 45-45 with 13:47 remaining in the second. But an 11-2 run by Elms saw the Blazers pull ahead, and another 11-2 run in the closing minutes would ice it.

Elms sophomore guard David Lopez Jr. (Willimantic, Conn. / Lyman Memorial) led the Blazers with 19 points, shooting five-of-six from the floor while dishing out nine assists and pulling down four rebounds.

Junior guard D.J. Edelen (Prince George, Va. / King George) finished with 16 points and four rebounds.

Freshman guard Tahquell Cadel (Bridgeport, Conn. / Platt Tech) added 11 points and six boards.

The Blazers collectively shot 45.5 percent from behind the arc, and 50 percent from the floor overall.

Elms is back in action on Wednesday 2/19 at 7PM when they host Mitchell College in an NECC matchup.
