Blazers Stumble At NEC

Henniker, NH – The Elms College men's basketball team fell on the road 101-79 at New England College over the weekend. The loss drops the Blazers overall record to 5-11 and 1-2 in the NECC.

The Pilgrims claimed a 7-2 lead just under two minutes, a lead they would never relinquish. A few minutes later New England College was able to extend their lead to 21-9 as they maintained control of the game. Halfway through the period, the Blazers were able to cut the lead down some as the score stood at 28-22. NEC then took a 7-2 run to bring the lead to 35-24 with eight minutes remaining. The Pilgrims were able to extend their lead to 16 at one point and were ahead 52-41 at the end of the first

New England College opened up the second half with back-to-back threes and found themselves up 58-41 for their largest lead of the game. NEC kept rolling, as Elms could not get much going but was able to hang around. The Pilgrims kept building as they held a 23-point lead at 85-62 with eight minutes left in regulation. New England College finished strong for a 101-79 win in a game that they controlled from start to finish.

The Blazers had three players score in double digits led by kewan Smoot's (Windsor, CT) 12.

Elms is back in action on Wednesday 1/22 when they host Beck er College at 7PM in NECC action.
