Men’s Basketball Drops Non-Conference Road Game At RIC

Providence, R.I. – The Elms College men's basketball team fell on the road 101-77 at Rhode Island College on Tuesday night. With the loss the Blazers drop to (1-4) on the season.

The first half started slow, with both teams struggling to get into a rhythm. As the half progressed, so did the offense. David Lopez (Willimantic, CT) and Kewan Smoot (Windsor, CT) led the way for Elms with eight points each, but the Blazers would go into the break, down 43-36.

As the second half began, the Anchormen stepped up on the defensive end, which caused Elms turnovers. The full court press stumped the Blazers as they forfeited the ball 16 times over the course of the second half.

RIC held its largest lead of the night at 27 points, 97-70, during the second half and closed out Elms to stay undefeated on the season.

Smoot led the way for the Blazers with 16 points and five assists.

Elms is back on the court Saturday 11/23 when they host Plymouth State University at 4PM in non-conference action at Picknelly Arena.
