#6 Field Hockey Heads To #3 Maine Farmington For NECC Tournament First Round Matchup

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College field hockey team heads to the University of Maine Farmington on Saturday at 2PM for a first round NECC tournament game. Elms dropped the regular season matchup with the Beavers 2-1 in OT.

The Blazers are coming off a huge 3-2 win over Becker College in their season finale, Elms needed the win in order to qualify for the tournament. They got big performances from Carissa Ramirez San Diego, CA), Maddie Gabel (Agawam, MA), and Nora Newman (Woburn, MA), and will look to these three again on Saturday.

"We spent a good part of the season playing a strong team game but struggling to get the results we wanted, so it is great to see the team really shining through adversity and battling their way in. It is extremely rewarding to finally have the hard work pay off at the right time and get the chance the keep the season alive. We have a great energy rolling into this weekend's game after a true team battle earlier this week. That game gave us the opportunity to already start playing with the playoff mentality so we have to keep that mentality and that energy rolling. We are focusing on really highlighting the things we are great at and making adjustments to strengthen the areas we need to. Ultimately, we just need to keep the grit" said Coach Goodhue of her team making the tourney and looking to advance."

The Blazers finished the 2019 season 5-13 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
