Field Hockey Drops NECC Opener At Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Elms College field hockey team dropped a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) match on Saturday afternoon at Manhattanville College. The Blazers fell 3-0 to the Valiants, with the loss Elms slips to 3-8 overall and 0-1 in conference.
 
Manhattanville came out and dominated the opening quarter, they started the game with six shots in three minutes.  On the seventh shot, the Valiants would find the back of the Blazer cage and take a 1-0 lead. The home side would continue their aggressive play and double the lead to 2-0 in at the 4:45 mark.
 
Elms would take control in the second quarter and nearly cut the deficit in half on a shot from Carissa Ramirez (San Diego, CA), but the Valiants goalie was able to deny the shot. Ramirez would total four shots in the game.

Manhattanville would put the game out of reach with their third goal of the game, and go on to take the conference opener 3-0
 
The Blazers are back in action on Wednesday 10/9 when they host Union College at 4:00PM on Leary Field.
