Elms Field Hockey Blanked By Becker

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Goals at the beginning and end of the first half from Becker's Alexis Keohane (North Brookfield, Mass.) were too much for the Elms College field hockey team to overcome on Tuesday night, falling 2-0 to the Hawks in New England Collegiate Conference play at Leary Field.

Koehane put the Hawks (3-5, 1-0 NECC) on the board in the fourth minute and added her second goal of the half just 44 seconds before the break. That was the only offense Becker needed as Elms (3-8, 1-2 NECC) managed just four shots and two shot on-goal in the game.

Blazer goalkeeper Jillian Lapponese (Enfield, Conn.) made seven saves in the game while counterpart Victoria Pilpel (Germantown, Md.) made two saves in the shutout victory. The Hawks owned a 13-4 advantage in shots and 11-4 lead in penalty corners in the contest.

Both teams will be back in action on Thursday as Elms will visit Westfield State at 7:00 p.m. while Becker hosts Nichols.
