McGuire, Serra Pick Up NECC Awards After Two-Win Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Elms College field hockey players Jeszenia McGuire and Ellie Serra swept the New England Collegiate Conference weekly awards on Monday after the Blazers picked up two wins last week.

McGuire (Brimfield, Mass.) earned NECC Player of the Week honors after tallying six goals and an assist. McGuire scored two goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-3 victory over Clark before adding four more goals in a 12-0 win over Dean in the NECC-opener.

Serra (Palmer, Mass.) picked up NECC Rookie of the Week recognition after she racked up five points on the week with a goal and three assists. She scored and added two assists in Elms' win over Clark and added another assist in the win over Dean.

The Blazers resume NECC play this weekend when they visit New England College on Sept. 29.
