Baseball Drops Both Ends of Doubleheader with Mt. St. Joseph

Auburndale, FL - The Elms College Baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader with Mt. St. Joseph on Sunday afternoon. The Blazers are now (3-3) on the season.

Blazers 6, Lions 7

The Blazers took an early lead scoring three runs in the first inning. Josh Keaton (Northbridge, MA) singles through the right side, plating two runners, and advancing Nate Ayala (Springfield, MA) to third. Ayala would score the third run of the inning off an Austin Roy (Cromwell, CT) groundout to third.

The Blazers kept the 3-0 lead until the bottom of the fifth. The Lions would come to life pushing two runners across the plate, cutting into the Blazes lead. The Mt. St. Joseph bats stayed hot in the sixth inning as the hosts scored three more runs and took their first lead of the game (5-2).

The Blazers fought back scoring three runs in the top of the seventh from a Tyler Galenski (Wilbraham, MA) double, and a single from Ayala to put themselves ahead by a score of 6-5.

Elms could not hold the lead, giving up two in the bottom of the seventh on a walk off single, giving the Lions a 7-6 victory.

Blazers 3, Lions 8

Game two saw the Lions jump out front and hold on for the sweep. After giving up three runs in the top half of the third, the Blazers answered with a run of their own in the bottom half when Josh Pasini (Enfield, CT) ripped a homerun over the left field fence.

The Lions answered, scoring five runs over the next two innings. Elms attempted to get back into the game, cutting the deficit to five runs after a Galenski two run homerun over the left field fence.  That was as close as the Blazers would get, dropping the game 8-3.
