Baseball Splits Doubleheader At Becker

GAME ONE: Becker 12, Elms 1

The Hawks took game one by a score of 12-1 behind a dominant pitching performance from Tevon Johnson.

The Blazers could only muster four hits in game one. Alex Hoss (Stafford Springs, CT ) and Cam Griffin (West Springfield, MA) had two hits each.

The Hawks put up crooked numbers in the first, fourth and fifth innings and took game one.

Thomas Owens (Enfield, CT) would take the loss for the Blazers.

 

GAME TWO: Elms 18, Becker 1

The Elms offense would step up in game two and drive in 18 runs on 17 hits to prevail 18-1.

The Blazers put up four runs in the top of the first on a three-RBI double from Cam Griffin (West Springfield, MA ) and an RBI single from Kyle Pingree (Springfield, MA).  Becker scored, what proved to be their only run, in the bottom of the first on an RBI double from Barrera.

The Blazers scored two in the second on an RBI double from Josh Berthiaume (Pittsfield, MA) and an RBI single from Nathan Ayala (Springfield, MA).  Three more Blazer runs crossed the plate in the third on a Becker error and a two-RBI triple from Thomas Slane(Tolland, CT).  Elms led 9-1 at the end of the third.

One run crossed in the fourth on an RBI single from Pingree.  The Blazers amassed four runs in the fifth, and three in the sixth to set the score at 17-1.  The final run of the game crossed in the top of the seventh as Josh Nohilly (Bristol, CT) scored on a wild pitch.

Trevor Johnson would take the loss for the Hawks.

Kevin Banas (Hatfield, MA) picks up the win for the Blazers.

Elms is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Union College for a non-conference game, first pitch at 6 p.m.
